About Us
Nestled in Vancouver’s unique Southlands neighbourhood, Southlands Nursery is more than a garden centre — it’s a destination. Located in one of the city’s last equestrian pockets, where horses and riders still pass along quiet country roads, the nursery offers a peaceful escape just minutes from downtown.
Southlands Nursery was established in 1991 by florist and plant enthusiast Thomas Hobbs, whose lifelong passion for plants and design shaped the nursery into something truly distinctive. After opening his first flower shop in Kerrisdale in 1975, Hobbs brought decades of creativity, horticultural knowledge, and an eye for beauty to the nursery world.
Who We Are
Today, Southlands Nursery is known for its carefully curated selection of plants, garden antiques, and unique finds from around the world. From traditional English pots and French garden furniture to rare plants and seasonal treasures, every corner of the nursery reflects a love of gardening and beautiful outdoor spaces.
Visitors often say the nursery feels like stepping into a small garden village — a place to wander, discover something unexpected, and enjoy the atmosphere. With friendly advice, unique products, and even a café to relax in, Southlands Nursery has become a favourite spot for gardeners, designers, and anyone who appreciates beautiful things.
Find Beauty, Wander Freely.
